Commonly Asked Studio Questions

How big is the studio?

The entire facility spans 8,000 square feet, with a dedicated 50’x50’ studio floor designed to accommodate everything from single-talent interviews to full-scale commercial productions. With at least a dozen uniquely designed rooms in the building, you’ll get plenty of shooting scenes to choose from including both outdoor natural light and indoor lighting.

What are the dimensions of the cyc wall?

Our seamless white cyc wall is 42 feet wide and 14 feet high, with generous floor depth to allow for lighting and wide camera angles. It’s perfect for product shots, vehicle shoots, and talent-driven scenes.

Tell me more about the lighting grid—what’s its size and functionality?

The studio is equipped with a 36’x48’ overhead lighting grid, loaded with power drops and built for full customization. It’s designed to support complex lighting setups and reduce floor clutter to help DPs and gaffers keep things clean and efficient.

What is the softbox you mention?

The studio features a 10’x20’ Chimera F2 softbox mounted to a winch system, making it easy to raise, lower, or remove entirely depending on your lighting needs. It delivers beautiful, even and soft light for product and portrait work.

Can you accommodate car or vehicle shoots?

Yes. Our ground-level drive-in access and large studio floor make the space ideal for car and vehicle productions. The studio’s 12’x12’ garage door and open floorplan means plenty of room for maneuverability.

Are there drains in the studio for wet or messy shoots?

Definitely. We have six floor drains conveniently placed along the outer edge of the studio floor, allowing for safe, easy cleanup after wet sets, special effects, or water-based scenes.

Is there climate control in the studio?

Yes. The entire space is temperature-controlled for year-round comfort, keeping talent, crew, and gear happy no matter the season.

What kind of client amenities are available?

Beyond the production floor, clients and talent have access to a green room with private bathroom, a full kitchen, client editing suite, and even some fun perks like the library, workout space, and a not-so-secret kid’s hideout.

What’s the “Green Space” you mention?

The Green Space is our private outdoor area featuring a deck, fire pit, café lights, and lounge seating. It’s a favorite for relaxing between takes or even grabbing a few natural light shots.

Can I rent the space for use with my own production team?

Was it something we said? Was it too many dad jokes?? Just kidding. If you’ve got your own production team and just need the space, we’d love to help. Our space is cool enough that we want to share it for any shoot. In fact, we launched Akron Studio Rentals several years ago for this exact purpose. You can rent just the studio or the whole building–whatever you need for your shoot or corporate event. Click here to see what’s available.

Can we schedule a walkthrough before booking?

Absolutely. We’d love to show you around. Just hit that “Explore the Studio Space” button and let us know when you’d like to visit.
